I'm Katie, your local Edmonton and area wedding photographer. I help couples feel like themselves on their wedding day, in the midst of a busy schedule I take couples away for a few minutes to relax, be close to each other and make magic that you can print out and remember forever.
Hillside Acres is one of the best Edmonton wedding venues (okay fine – technically it’s outside of Edmonton but as you scroll through the photos here you’ll see why it’s worth the trip)! Seriously, when Marina and Michael told me they chose Hillside Acres as their wedding venue I was THRILLED (and I usually don’t care about the wedding venue – I like to think I’m a photographer for EVERY couple, not just the ones with the fancy venues). On top of that, I honestly just couldn’t wait to photograph Marina and Michael! These two had NEVER had professional photos taken but they were naturals in front of the camera (and to be honest – just the sweetest people ever!).
Sweet Getting Ready Moments
Marina and Michael wanted photos for their entire wedding day (I was there for 12 hours!), from getting ready to the dance floor moments at the end of the night. As a wedding photographer, I will ALWAYS approve of adding more and more of your captured moments. For their getting ready photos specifically, I was able to capture a lot of the “detail” shots, too because I had that extra time. If you spent a year planning your wedding and deciding between invitation styles and boutonniere flowers, don’t you deserve to have those details preserved forever? I might be biased but I think so!
Gorgeous Outdoor Wedding Photos
One thing you should know about me when you book me to be your wedding photographer is: I like to take both the “obvious” photo and the creative photo. I truly want to make sure you get it all – from the “not looking at the camera” shots that are trending right now to the ones where you look straight at the camera that feel more traditional right now, but I can promise you will want them later. The other thing you should know? I want it to be about your love. I prompt you guys to actually talk to each other, share things your proud of, and make each other laugh during your photos. I want to capture REAL emotion. If that’s what you want too, make sure you connect with me here!
Outdoor Wedding at Hillside Acres
Marina and Michael chose to have their wedding ceremony late in the afternoon (around 4!). As a wedding photographer, I will ALWAYS encourage this. Although after many, many years as an Edmonton wedding photographer I’m really able to shoot in any lighting condition, outdoor weddings at noon are TOUGH because the lighting can be quite harsh, not soft and romantic like most couples want right now! The lighting for Marina and Michael’s ceremony was PERFECT because the sun had started to go down and the large gorgeous trees filtered the strong rays a little bit. I am absolutely OBSESSED with how the photos came out (am I allowed to say that? but look how pretty they look!).
An Outdoor Tented Wedding at Hillside Acres
If you’ve ever wondered what real wedding photos at Hillside Acres looks like, keep scrolling friends! Their outdoor tented wedding is absolutely iconic (at least here in Alberta). Marina and Michael adorned it with rustic accents and gorgeous greenery. On top of that, their wedding reception was just SO MUCH FUN. From a champagne pop to fire pit photos in the evening, everything was just perfection. Seeing photos of them enjoying themselves is bringing me right back to the joy of those moments!
Fall Wedding at Hillside Acres
Like I said at the beginning, I love Hillside Acres. But if you are looking for a wedding photographer who captures REAL love and moments, I would be honored to be your wedding photographer no matter WHAT wedding venue you choose. Marina and Michael’s wedding was so special for reasons far beyond what venue they chose. I would celebrate with them anywhere!

Why Breaking Tradition Never Felt so Right When I married my husband, I was pretty traditional. He didn’t get to see my dress until I walked down the aisle. Looking back at our day I recognize that I felt a bit disconnected from what we were actually doing during the day of and lots of […]
