Hey friends! I am so glad you stumbled across my collection of Edmonton engagement photos inspiration. If you are planning your engagement photography this year, I would love to chat. If we haven’t met yet, I am Katie and I am an Edmonton wedding photographer that has a secret love from engagement photos. I actually include engagement photos with all of my wedding packages (which you can check out here) because it gives us a chance to connect before your wedding day. My goal is to make you feel completely comfortable taking photos on your wedding day so that I can wow you with the photos.

I hope you are all enjoying the start to likely one of the longest Spring’s we will have as we all wait to see what wedding in Edmonton will look like this summer. Have you already made changes to your wedding plans this summer? What are your favourite COVID-friendly summer activities? I would love for you to DM me ideas on the ‘gram if we aren’t hanging out their already.

Engagement Photography in Edmonton, Alberta
Now, without further ado, let’s get started with (a few of) my favourite Edmonton engagement photos! Now truth be told, I did make an exception for a few super sweet couples that just had “couple photos” and anniversary photos taken that are not technically engagement photos. BUT they will still give you some pose ideas and some serious engagement photo inspiration. If you hire me to be your Edmonton engagement photographer, I seriously hope we can leave frolicking on the table.

Honestly, Alberta fields can make a perfect neutral backdrop for couples photos! And just an FYI, I absolutely love the way that rompers photograph. If you are looking for the answer to “what to wear to my engagement photo session”, and I know you are, I collected some more advice for you here. But really, I just want you to be comfortable! Nothing ruins a photo more than looking uncomfortable, and I promise to do my best to make you laugh and relax. It’s kind of my thing. I am okay being a little weird for the sake of a photo.
Choosing a place to take engagement photos in Edmonton

One of my favourite places to take engagement photos are in some of the natural areas we have around Edmonton like Mill Creek Ravine. For those of you who don’t know, I am a little bit plant obsessed (I have about 50 at my house!) so getting the chance to get out in nature and take engagement photos? Kind of like combining my two favourite things. Plus the backdrop of tall trees is dramatic in the best way.
And I hope you agree with me that engagement photos are not always about the ring shot… but sometimes they are.

Honestly, when choosing a location for your Edmonton (and surrounding areas) engagement photos, there are so many outdoor spaces that are absolutely beautiful. And with your willingness to entertain my crazy ideas, we can make magic happen pretty much anywhere.

Winter Engagement Photos in Edmonton
Jumping back to dramatic couples photos and very tall trees, I also have a secret love of taking winter engagement photos! Something like 40% of engagements happen between December and March (very much Winter here in Alberta!) so if that is you and you just can’t wait to get your engagement photos done, just know that the snowy backdrop can be incredibly stunning.

Having an At Home Engagement Session
Not a fan of cold (or rainy) unpredictable Alberta weather? A lot of couples worry about not having a perfectly instagrammable home, but really, you shouldn’t. A lot of times we just need a tidy, comfortable, room with great lighting.

Plus, if you are very lucky, you might even get a surprise family member willing to join in! Which is ALWAYS welcome by the way.

Are you planning Edmonton engagement photos in 2021?
I include engagement photos in all of my Edmonton wedding photography packages – even the mini one. But if you only need engagement photos right now, contact me and we can set something up. Don’t worry about having it all planned out before you reach out. Things are very fluid in the wedding planning world as of late. Don’t worry, I will accommodate you as best I can. I am happy to help you so we can plan the best engagement photo session yet! I can’t wait to get started.
