Before we dive right into what I like to think are the top Edmonton wedding venues, have you read this post on how to choose a wedding venue yet? Okay, you are good? You know what you are going to be looking for when choosing your wedding venue? Great!

Below you’ll find some of my favourites as an Edmonton wedding photographer over the last few years. I like to joke that I want to be the photographer for “regular people” which means that although the venues here are some of my faves, they aren’t all overly fancy or expensive. I’ve tried to include a range of genuinely beautiful spaces at all different price points to make your wedding planning journey a little easier!

Muttart Conservatory

This was one of the first Edmonton wedding venues I ever shot at! If you are dreaming of a tropical wedding (but don’t want to fly away OR rely on Edmonton weather), Muttart Conservatory could be a great wedding venue option. More than that – the pyramids make a great backdrop for outdoor wedding photos.

Brew & Bloom Secret Garden

This one still might be kind of a hidden gem but I swear this place is perfect for micro weddings (up to 70 guests). If you are dreaming of an abundance of greenery and florals, and don’t have a five-figure florals budget, why not take advantage of a space that already has it? The Secret Garden is the perfect place. I’m the kind of photographer that will never tire of taking photos of your florals.

 

Obsidian Ridge

Remember in this post about choosing a wedding venue I mentioned that some are more “all-inclusive” than others? Obsidian Ridge is a perfect example of wedding packages that have it all. Only 30 mins SE from Edmonton, it’s close enough to the city for a majority of your guests, but also had a camping option if you want to add a little glamping to your wedding day. I love a good outdoor wedding!

The Olive Grove

15 mins east of the Henday, The Olive Grove is another all-inclusive wedding venue option just outside of Edmonton that you may want to consider. They are fully booked for 2022 – so make sure to inquire quickly for 2023 wedding dates!

River’s Edge Devon

Looking for a more customizable (and therefore more affordable) wedding venue? River’s Edge has both a “venue only” option and an all-inclusive wedding package depending on your tastes. Plus, photos in front of the North Saskatchewan River are always stunning.

Pine & Pond

I wrote an entire wedding venue feature on Pine and Pond here, so it’s safe to say that they are a favourite of mine! I love the range of gorgeous outdoor space for wedding photos, the sweet canoe for you and yours to have a moment alone, the clear top tent so you can dance under the stars without worrying about the weather  – there really isn’t anything I don’t love about Pine and Pond.

The Old Red Barn

If you are looking for that rustic red barn aesthetic (which let’s be honest, don’t we all kind of love in Alberta?), The Old Red Barn is the perfect place for up to 100 guests. I love the value they place on farm-to-table catering (they do have in-house catering BUT you can choose your own caterer if they include a locally sourced component to their meal).

Plus – can we just admire how dreamy fall wedding photos are? I love the Old Red Barn but truthfully I won’t turn down any chance to shoot against those autumn leaves.

Fairmont Hotel Macdonald

Although Fairmont Hotel Macdonald might have a higher price tag than some of the others on this list, it’s an absolute classic and truly no top Edmonton wedding venues list would be complete without it. They’ve been hosting weddings for over 100 years so if you are looking for an outstanding wedding planning experience (and no doubt flawless execution), this is the place.

The Foundry Room

Industrial wedding vibes are all the rage and even though The Foundry Room is a newer wedding venue here in Edmonton, they have quickly become one of the most loved. Exposed beams, brick walls, large windows – it really won’t take very much to make this venue breathtaking. For those couples wanting something a little extra, you also have access to an event design specialist to help you with any and all of your wedding rental needs.

La Cite Francophone

Located right in Bonnie Doon, La Cite Francophone has both a stunning outdoor terrace and indoor banquet hall space you can rent for your wedding day. With floor-to-ceiling windows, even their indoor space is a wedding photographer’s dream!

Studio 96

It’s no secret that I love downtown weddings, and Studio 96 is a stunning historic downtown wedding venue. For guest lists up to 150, Studio 96 can host both your wedding ceremony and reception. This is one of the few wedding venues in Edmonton that include the services of an event coordinator to help you build your entire wedding vendor team!

Lastly, don’t forget about community halls if you are looking for an affordable wedding venue!

I’m probably going to break down “types of wedding venues” in a blog post in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, I just want to remind you that community halls are ALWAYS an option for a less expensive wedding venue in Edmonton. If you are okay building your wedding team “a la carte” (ie. you will likely need to hire a set up/take down team), they can be a great option and can give you a ton of control over your wedding day. Some have Saturday rental options and others will let you have the space for the entire week. My own sister got married at Southwood Community Hall and I was beyond impressed with what she pulled together (the tall ceilings at this hall are a DREAM).

Don’t forget: after you book your wedding venue, you need to book your wedding photographer!
